Full Description

Join us on a beginner-friendly sea kayak adventure in Auckland with our captivating four-hour tour to Browns Island (Motukorea). Starting from the beautiful St Heliers beach, you'll glide through serene, turquoise waters, passing by Gentleman’s and Ladies Bays as you make your way to the secluded volcanic island, accessible only by kayak and small boats. The paddle to Browns Island takes about 45-60 minutes each way, giving you 1.5 to 2 hours of relaxed kayaking. The rest of the tour is spent exploring the island's coastline, learning about sea kayaking equipment, and soaking in the breathtaking scenery.

As you paddle through Auckland’s waters, you’ll have the opportunity to spot diverse marine life in the Waitemata Harbour and Hauraki Gulf. Watch for coastal birds like Dotterels and Oystercatchers, and if you’re fortunate, you might even catch a glimpse of whales, dolphins, or the charming little blue penguins.

Your adventure leads to a volcanic cone that formed around 25,000 years ago, one of Auckland’s 53 volcanoes in the still-active Auckland Volcanic Field. Now a recreational reserve, Browns Island invites you to discover its natural beauty and historical landmarks.

Educational Opportunities: Browns Island also serves as a valuable site for students and researchers interested in volcanology, geology, and environmental conservation. Its unique features and easy accessibility make it a perfect location for field studies.
